ABOUT US

Mrs. Deane Bonner, President
Under her leadership, the Cobb County NAACP has been very active in the community, politically and academically. Some of their accomplishments include: the Annual Education Forum, daily voter registration, host political forums, meet with city and local school, police, and civic organizations. The Afro-Academic Cultural Technological & Scientific Olympics (ACT-SO) has also been implemented. As a way to ensure continuous improvement in the school systems, the Cobb County branch of the NAACP monitors the city and county school systems as part of the ongoing Civil Rights suit with the Department of Education. We also have formed partnerships with local churches and other organizations.
The NAACP is committed to achievement through non-violence and relies upon the press, the petition, the ballot and the courts, and is persistent in the use of legal and moral persuasion even in the face of overt and violent racial hostility.
